The main character of the game is Andreas Maler, a journeyman artist who works in the former scriptorium of Kiersau Abbey. Unexpectedly, the protagonist becomes embroiled in a 25-year series of murders. To discover the truth, The Painter will have to interrogate literally everyone – peasants, craftsmen, nobles, monks, nuns, and even local thieves. How the fate of the protagonist will turn out and how the investigation conducted by him will proceed depends on our actions and decisions taken by US.

In the game Pentiment, we watch the action from the side. During the game, we are mainly engaged in exploration, conducting conversations and obtaining valuable information that allows us to push the investigation forward.
