Old world is a 4X turn-based strategy game in which we take control of an ancient state and try to turn it into a real empire. The production, originally known as 10 crowns, was developed by independent studio Mohawk Games. Its main designer was Soren Johnson, who had previously held the same role with titles such as Offworld Trading Company and Sid Meier’s Civilization IV.

Most of the time in old world we spend on a world map covered with a hexagonal grid. The game takes place in turn-based mode, and since one turn here means one year in the game world, during it we do not impersonate a single ruler, but take control of an entire dynasty that strengthens its position from generation to generation. The condition for victory is the fulfillment of ten so-called ambitions, that is, special tasks set before the dynasty.

They are generated procedurally, based on our previous achievements, the personality of the current character, as well as the events in which we came to participate. There are more than a thousand of them, and their source of inspiration for them were events known from the pages of ancient history; events often create a domino effect. As in the Civilization series, it is also possible to achieve a point victory, here occurring in two ways: to score more points after a certain number of turns or to collect twice as many points as any other nation.

During the fun, we build and expand cities, constructing various buildings, among which are the wonders of the world, shrines, amphitheatres and garrisons. How many actions we can perform in a given turn is determined by a system of orders, the number of which we can increase, gaining the so-called legitimacy. This applies both to the erection of buildings, taking part in events and conducting diplomatic activities, and to the conduct of wars.

The graphics of the game Old World PC Game Download does not differ much from the level known from many other strategies of the 4x type. the whole thing was kept in a style reminiscent of the fifth part of the Sid Meier’s Civilization series.
