Galactic Civilizations IV is another installment of the award-winning series of sandbox space strategies from the 4x subgenre. the American studio Stardock is again responsible for its production. Work on the title was announced 6 years after the release of galciv III, with early access scheduled for June 2021. Unlike previous games, this part introduces many changes and improvements, while retaining the best of the features offered by its predecessors.

The action of the fourth installment of the series takes place in the XXIV century. People have discovered a faster-than-light way to travel in space, which they called hyperdrive. The player takes on the role of the leader of a cosmic civilization, discovering new star systems, exploring the potential of the subspace realm, and at the same time competing with aliens for dominance in our galaxy.

Galactic Civilizations IV PC Download is a turn-based game where the boards are divided into hexes. The player begins the game with only his home planet. Its goal is to explore new technologies, explore the known galaxy, colonize new worlds while at the same time taking care to maintain the satisfaction of its citizens. The game also allows you to conduct trade, diplomacy, intrigue or wars with foreign civilizations.

Previous games in the series had one map of different sizes. Players who liked to play on large maps had to deal with the disadvantage of not filling parts of the map. Galactic Civilizations IV PC Download introduced star sectors. Most of these sectors are similar to the small and large maps from galciv III, representing part of the entire galaxy that the player was trying to conquer. The fourth edition offers to explore from one to dozens of such sectors.

The early part of the game introduces the traditional exploration phase, but to get to other star sectors, you can only use the subspace streams, which again requires the appropriate technology. Once it is captured, the player can enter the second phase of exploration and conquest.

Previously, the player had to manage each planet separately, no matter how marginal it was in importance. It was possible to assign an AI governor to the planet, but it was not always a satisfactory solution. However, the creators of this part came up with a way to solve this problem. By default, the planets are not managed at all, they only supply resources (technology, minerals, food, etc.) to the nearest important world. The player can later decide whether he wants to assign such a colony a governor who will transform it into another world. The governor does not manage anything, but he provides the planet with a series of bonuses. If the player has too many colonies powering the main world, the governor can also rebel.

In addition to the single player mode, Galactic Civilizations IV also offers a multiplayer mode. This time, unlike the previous part, the game provides better support for the co-op mode and scenarios that can be played out in less than an hour.
