Expeditions Rome is a tactical role-playing game enriched with clearly outlined strategic elements. The production is the third installment of the series launched in 2013, which includes the games Expeditions: Conquistador and Expeditions: Viking. The title was developed by the developing series Studio Logic artists, while its release was handled by THQ Nordic, which in November 2018 took over the rights to the brand.

Expeditions Rome PC Download takes us on a journey to ancient Rome from the first half of the 1st century BC, when the triumphs were celebrated by Gaius Julius Caesar. The production puts at our disposal three extensive feature campaigns, which are set in picturesque Greece, sun-scorched North Africa and overgrown with forests of Gaul.

Taking part in expeditions organized by an outstanding Roman leader, we learn the fate of the main character. He is Legatus, the child of a Roman dignitary murdered by a political enemy. Not wanting to share the fate of the father, our ward (or ward) must leave the eternal city and enlist in the army. He will only be able to return to his family and recover his Lost Legacy if he becomes a universally respected commander.

The gameplay in Expeditions Rome PC Download begins with the creation of a hero. Interestingly, at this stage, we decide only on the gender and appearance of the character; we choose her class only after completing the tutorial and getting acquainted with the possibilities of each of the four available professions.

During the game, we observe the action in isometric view. Traversing successive lands conquered by Caesar, we carry out tasks pushing forward the plot and numerous side missions, we meet characters who decide to join us, and we also take part in clashes with opponents. Skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, in arenas covered with a grid of hexes, and during them we must both properly position our team members and skillfully use their abilities.

As you progress, the combat potential of the protagonist and his companions increases, who gain additional levels of experience and unlock new skills. Compared to Expeditions: Viking, character development has been simplified a bit and has become more transparent. In addition to the abilities characteristic of a particular class, there are skills associated with a particular type of weapon. New weapons and armor are acquired during expeditions or manufactured in camps.
