Crusader Kings III is the third installment of the popular complex strategy game series, launched in 2004 by the spin-off series Europa Universalis. The development and release of this title is led by the brand-name company Paradox Interactive.

Crusader Kings III takes us on a journey back to the Middle Ages. In the game, we are at the forefront of a dynasty that we have led for generations to come. The game takes place on a bird’s-eye view of a detailed map covering a vast area stretching from Spain, through Scandinavia, to India and Central Africa.

While playing, our overarching goal is to expand our family’s sphere of influence. While declaring war and military victories over other rulers may be an effective tactic, it is often better to use the art of diplomacy and join the corresponding political parties, make alliances or arrange marriages between our dynasties and others. In addition, we can try to quietly gain an advantage over our opponents by employing spies or assassins, and increase our importance in the kingdom, for example by modifying the religion of our subjects. At the same time, it is worth remembering that other rulers and other members of our family have the same ability to plot behind our backs; in order not to fall victim to their intrigues, we must be constantly on our guard.

Moreover, it should not be forgotten that members of our family are blessed with unique personalities and ambitions; each of them has its own development tree, on which its characteristics and skills are shown. As the effects of our decisions are felt around the world, we are helped in making the right choices by the guidance system implemented in the game.

In Crusader Kings III, the artwork does not play a particularly important role. It is worth noting, however, that despite its complexity, the user interface is transparent; the same goes for the strategic map on which the action takes place.
