Returnal is the work of the creators of the warmly received shoot’em UPA Resogun. Studio Housemarque this time decided to create an action game with a view of TPP, in which the player’s task is to discover the secrets of an unexplored planet. The title is a combination of TPS and roguelike.

In the game we play the character of astronaut Selene, who is forced to relive the same event over and over again-the crash of his ship on a strange planet. Death only makes a woman return to the starting point. In addition, after each rebirth, the world on which she “lands” changes, and she with him. The only way for the heroine to break out of this strange loop is to discover the secrets that hide this dangerous land. With each death, however, Selene plunges more and more into madness.

Exploration is an important part of the game. The ever-changing planet each time has to offer us different locations and objects, which guarantees the uniqueness of each game. In addition, the ancient technology we discover can permanently improve Selene’s skills. This makes subsequent approaches to the game easier.

The exchange of fire with opponents indicates the inspiration of games from the genre bullet hell. Almost every opponent showers Selene with a hail of missiles with different trajectories. The player’s task is to navigate between the balls, avoid hits and respond with fire. In the heat of battle, we can freely switch the firing modes of our weapons, so we have the opportunity to adapt to the situation.

The Returnal PC Download also draws some solutions from the genre roguelike: death here is part of the mechanics of the game. In return she is not the end, but an element of our adventure, which does not disturb the rhythm of the gameplay. After death, we can quickly return to the fight, but you need to be vigilant-after each of our resurrections, the game world undergoes a metamorphosis.

High resolution and graphics quality

Returnal PC Download takes full advantage of the new capabilities of the PC. The loading screen after death disappears almost instantly, so we can immediately try again. Thanks to the controller’s adaptive triggers, we can intuitively aim or change the firing mode with the same trigger: it depends on how hard we press it. The vibration of the dualsense controller allows the player to be more immersive when shooting weapons. Using headphones, we experience 3D sound.from each side come to us different sounds – enemies coming from behind us, passing bullets, as well as opponents flying over us.

The graphic design of the return is very impressive, offering 4K resolution at 60 frames per second of animation and ray tracing. The locations traversed by us delight in the detail of execution, the character models are almost photorealistic, and each shot is accompanied by impressive light effects.
